ConverLight® Static

ConverLight Static glass is the market leading static solar control solution. The patented solution gives a great heat blocking effect in combination with a great heat insulation. In wintertime the static glass is very effective against down draft.

Very simple to integrate when retrofitting existing buildings and can easily be combined with e.g. self-cleaning, extra clear, sound reduction, safety and fire glass.

ConverLight Statics unique and patented solution has up to 40% lower direct solar transmittance than similar competing products on the market but still has similar light transmission.

There are two versions of ConverLight Static, ConverLight Static Facade for facades and ConverLight Static Skylight for glass roof panels.

  • Energy savings up to 40%
  • 50% light transmission
  • Reduced the carbon dioxide footprint
  • Even and comfortable indoor climate
  • Access to the daylight and outside view
  • Anti-condensation
  • All shapes and sizes up to 3 x 6 m

Customer project - The Diocese of Västerås

ConverLight® Static contributed to increased indoor comfort and energy efficiency, without losing architectural freedom of design. The installation of static solar control glass from ChromoGenics resulted in reduced climate impact, a consistent and comfortable indoor climate as well as free access to daylight and views.

Thanks to the installation of solar control glass, the property’s annual CO2 emissions are estimated to decrease by 18 tonnes.

Great insulation

The pictures show an older two-glazed window in comparison to a ConverLight Static Facade from the inside. The image is taken with a thermal camera, at an outdoor temperature of -11 °.
The surface of ConverLight Static Facade (right) is basically room temperature on the inside, so basically no drafts at all. For the older two-glazed window (left), the situation is different. As a result of heat leakage the temperature drops to 11 °, which will cause significant drafts that must be heated with a radiator.

The picture shows older two-glass windows in comparison to a ConverLight Static Facade from the outside. The picture is taken with a thermal camera, at an outdoor temperature of -24 °. The wall is of an older model and maintains a temperature of about -15 ° due to leakage. The older two-glazed windows leak a great deal and the surface of these glass keeps a temperature of a few minus degrees. The surface of the ConverLight Static windows, at the top of the picture, are basically the same temperature as the outdoor temperature, so the leakage is very small.

ConverLight® Static best properties

Professor Claes G. Granqvist (Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University) presented new glass knowledge for energy efficiency buildings at Society of Vacuum Coaters’ TechCon 2019 in Long Beach, USA. Today’s standards to decide performance of facade glass is based on measurements and calculations for solar angle of incidence of 90°, even though the sun almost never hits the static glass with that angle.
ChromoGenics and Ångström laboratory have developed a new method to characterize the properties of the glass, which shows that facade glass, depending on the design, can have up to 35% better performance in comparison to 90° sun angle measurements. ConverLight Static did show the best properties from the examined glass.
