Not your average smart glass manufacturer

At ChromoGenics we believe in the potential of smart glass and electrochromic materials and the use of electrochromic materials is a big part of our DNA as a company. We are not the only ones who strongly believe in the potential of electrochromic materials. Stephen Selkowitz, renowned building scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA regards electrochromic materials and glazing “as the most promising switchable technology for use in buildings.”

ChromoGenics arose in 2003 as a natural outcome of over 20 years of research of these exact materials by Professor Claes-Göran Granqvist and his team at the Ångström Laboratory at Uppsala University in Sweden. The many years of groundbreaking research have resulted in a unique patent portfolio that have given ChromoGenics an internationally leading position when it comes to developing electrochromic solutions.

In 2016 the electrochromic and dynamic product ConverLight® was commercially launched.

In 2018 ChromoGenics acquired the I-Window product and by that added a static solar control glass with unique and patented properties verified by Ångströmlaboratory. This product is relabeled ConverLight® Static.

You still find our headquarters and production facilities in Uppsala. This is the place where we realize the full virtue of our exclusive IP portfolio, consisting of proprietary know-how and patents covering essential materials, processes and applications in a total of eighteen patent families. The last one will expire in 2033, with several additional patents pending. ChromoGenics’ current position as a distinguished smart glass manufacturer is therefore just the first chapter in our exploration of electrochromic solutions.

ConverLight® Dynamic

At the moment, we focus on how electrochromic materials truly can revolutionize the field of dynamic and smart glass. Our unique technology ConverLight® offers controllable heat- and light transmission, increased indoor comfort and energy efficiency on a level that no other smart glass manufacturer can match.

ConverLight® Static

Our static product has unique and patented properties that gives a 40% improvement in solar transmission compared to similar competitor products without any reduction in light transmission.

ChromoGenics state-of-the-art production facility includes climate-stabilized cleanroom facilities, production lines for ConverLight glass laminates, testing and development facilities. A production plant that was partly financed through a conditional loan from the Swedish Energy Agency.

Several established companies and organizations have already discovered the advantages that ConverLight contribute to their business environment. Will you be the next?
